Introduction. The relevance of the research topic is due to the fact that at the present stage industrial companies of the Penza Region are focused on the formation of highly professional personnel with a high degree of mobility and socio-professional adaptability in the labor market. Of special interest is the process of supplementing and updating professional personnel capable of reducing the social and economic risks and challenges of the time, i. e. the development of the management intelligentsia at the industrial enterprises under the influence of their key competencies. The purpose of the research is to study the process of forming the management intelligentsia at industrial companies as a socio-professional group and to substantiate its importance in the conditions of innovative development of industrial companies in the Penza Region.
Materials and Methods. The materials used were the results of a sociological study conducted at industrial enterprises in the Penza Region in 2017. General scientific and special techniques and methods were used including systemic and comparative analysis.
Results. It has been proved that the management intelligentsia as a socio-professional group is an indispensable institution for industrial enterprises in the Penza Region. The competencies of the new management intelligentsia forming the competitive advantages of industrial companies have been identified as well as the factors influencing the level of formation and homogeneity of the core of certain competencies.
Discussion and Conclusions. The competencies of the management intelligentsia are a complex of knowledge, skills and abilities of the managerial staff. They participate in creating the greatest benefits and are a vector for the staff of industrial companies.
The prospects of further studies may be related to the provision of models for the development of management intelligentsia at industrial enterprises in the Penza Region. The article may be useful for the stakeholders, for administrators of industrial companies of various levels of management, for state and municipal employees, scientists and those representing modern management intelligentsia.
