SOCIO-CULTURAL IMPACT ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE EDUCATIONAL AND METHODICAL WORK OF A DEPARTMENT (DEDICATED TO THE 80^th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF P. D. PAVLENOK)

Abstract. The paper examines the complex and systematic impact of Professor P. D. Pavlenok from 2003 to 2016 on the improvement of educational and methodical work at the Department of Social Work in Ogarev Mordovia State University.

Synopsis. Introduction: establishment of a new university department is facilitated by many needs, circumstances, and personalities. The issue of the influence of personalities on the development of new departments is insufficiently explored by the social science.

Materials and Methods: the study used the 2003—2016 reports by the Chairman of the State Certification Commission Professor P. D. Pavlenok. An analysis of the relevant literature and of the proceedings of the meetings of the Department of Social Work of the National Research Mordovia State University was conducted. Opinions of the teaching staff of this Department, of the postgraduates, applicants, and students were also taken into account.

Results: the conducted socio-cultural analysis of the activities of Professor P. D. Pavlenok leads to the conclusion that he had a great influence on the formation of the Department of Social Work of the National Research Mordovia State University as a personality, as a scientist, and a teacher.

Discussion and Conclusions: Pavlenok's influence on the work of the university Department of Social Work Professor was systematic and targeted. This influence was multifaceted. The Department was increasing its scientific, educational, and professional potential under the impact of many factors, including the influence of this scientist.
